BUILT FOR STRICTER CODE REQUIREMENTS

EXPANDED PARK MODEL LIVING

A HUD Park Model RV is a larger, specially built recreational vehicle (RV) that exceeds the typical 400 sq. ft. limit for standard park models, meeting stricter HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) construction codes, primarily for Florida, allowing for up to 500 sq. ft. of living space while still being considered an RV for transport and placement in some parks. They offer more features and durability than standard RVs, often with features like bay windows, full kitchens, and enhanced structural integrity for wind zones, bridging the gap between RVs and traditional manufactured homes.

RECREATIONAL LIVING

  • Clear Regulatory Classification: HUD’s rules clarify that park model RVs are defined and exempted as recreational vehicles rather than manufactured homes, which provides certainty for owners, dealers, and parks about where these units can be sited and how they are treated under the law.
  • Designed for Recreational Use: As RV-classified units built to ANSI or NFPA consensus standards, HUD Park Model RVs are engineered for temporary and seasonal living, making them ideal for vacations, weekend getaways, or extended stays in resort and campground settings.
  • Mobility & Flexibility: Because they remain classified as RVs and are built on a towable chassis, HUD Park Model RVs offer relocatable living space that can be moved to different sites, unlike permanent manufactured homes.
  • Simplified Siting in RV Parks: The exemption from HUD’s manufactured home standards means many RV parks and campgrounds can accommodate these units easily without additional manufactured housing regulations.
